Play & The Curriculum

Play and The Nursery Curriculum

The nursery recognises that play is the natural way in which children learn. It is the process through which children explore, investigate, recreate and come to understand their world.

Within the nursery all children are supported in developing their potential at their own pace, by means of appropriate play activities and sensitive adult input. We support these processes through a traditional play ethos. Many of our practices are Frobelian in origin.

The nursery follows the ‘Curriculum for Excellence’ and has embedded 'Realising the Ambition' into daily practice (both produced by  Education Scotland). We pay close attention to Growing my Potential, and work to the standards of the Health & Social Care Standards and the Quality Framework (both produced by Care Inspectorate)
